KLS Percussion is an independent percussion studio operated by Krista L. Siachames. Formed in 2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina, KLS Percussion offers a variety of services including private instruction, equipment rental, and a practice / recording space.  Krista is supported by the United Arts Council and is a member of Percussive Arts Society, NC Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education.

Krista began playing percussion at age nine. Now as a professional she maintains a full studio of private students and is sought after as a freelance musician throughout North Carolina. As an active performer and educator, Krista brings a perspective that connects the classroom to the stage, providing students a unique and professional approach to music education.

In the 2022-2023 season Krista performed iconic works such as Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat with Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess with North Carolina Opera, and Tchaikowsky’s Sleeping Beauty with Carolina Ballet. She was also in the percussion section in the premier of one of the country’s hottest opera ticket, Omar

Highly devoted to percussion education, Krista has advised dozens of local middle and high school band programs.  She has several self-published educational books including Method for Snare Drum Vol. II, Back to Basics, and Chopping Out.  She has accompanied award-winning programs to the NC Music Educators Association convention in Winston Salem, NC and the Midwest Convention in Chicago, IL.   She has judged marching band competitions around the state, presented numerous percussion clinics, and currently serves as the Percussion Instructor at three high schools, two middle schools, and the Triangle Philharmonic Association. She has also served as Percussion Caption Head at several schools in Wake County North Carolina.

Krista attended Appalachian State University under a full scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Music Performance and a minor in Business. She studied under Dr. Robert Falvo, a graduate of The Manhattan School of Music, and W. Arnold Sykes. In 2001 Krista won the Concerto Competition for the Hayes School of Music and was later invited to perform in the Honors Recital Series in 2002.  After college Krista worked for various arts organizations including The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Columbia Artists Management, Lincoln Center, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. While working for these organizations she continued to perform professionally in venues such as The Kennedy Center, the Rachel M. Schlesinger Arts Center, and the Wooly Mammoth Arts Center.

Krista’s focus and passion for teaching has led to the creation of KLS Percussion, a place to advance the art of percussion and create the musicians of tomorrow.
